The first day of the IFA has concluded and we bring you the best announcements from yesterday
IFA is amongst the most important technology events of the year and this edition is no different. The first day has officially wrapped an we pick the most exciting announcements of IFA 2014.
1. Samsung Galaxy Note 4
The phablet series that started it all has got the newest addition to its lineup. An extremely worthy upgrade, the Galaxy Note 4 has blazing fast hardware, a new design that is definitely an improvement over the plasticky Samsung we are used to, and a crisp 5.7 inch Quad-HD screen.
2. Samsung Galaxy Note Edge
Samsung’s second phablet is identical to the Note in almost all ways except for one: the screen on the Edge curves around one side of the phone. The prototype that Samsung displayed at CES this year has been transformed into a consumer product. The South Korean giant is clearly showing that it doesn’t shy away from jumping into the future.
3. Samsung Gear VR
If there is any more proof needed of Samsung’s commitment to the future, the Gear VR is it. The futuristic looking Virtual Reality headset pairs up with the Galaxy Note 4 to provide a completely wirefree VR experience. And it is coming this year, beating a lot of competing products to the market.
4. Sony Xperia Z3
Committed to its six month cycle of refreshing the flagship device, Sony has launched the Xperia Z3. The phone features a 5.2 inch 1080p display along with the amazing 20.7 megapixel camera found on the Xperia Z2. Not a big upgrade from the Xperia Z2 but this is what six months get you, it seems.
5. Sony Xperia Z3 Compact
Arguably a more interesting prospect that the Xperia Z3. As the display size on mobile phones keep increasing every year, the Z3 compact is a very good option for people looking for a phone in the 4.6 inch territory. It features mostly the same hardware, including the fantastic camera.
6. Sony PS4 Remote Play
With the new additions to Sony’s portfolio, you will now be able to take your games with you on a smaller screen. The process has been made very simple with users just requiring an app-download and getting the content of PS4 on your mobile screen.
7. Samsung Gear S
Samsung is clearly fond of curved displays and you can see it the Gear S smartwatch. The curved screen watch can also function independently from a smartphone, making calls and connecting to the internet on its own.
8. Sony Xperia Z3 smartwatch
Sony has joined the Android Wear bandwagon with a slightly disappointing entry in the form of Sony smartwatch 3. We are used to good design from Sony but the smartwatch 3 looks clunky and just overall not very attractive for an accessory on your wrist.
