BlackBerry has just begun the pre-registrations for the Passport smartphone which hints towards a launch being around the corner
BlackBerry is looking towards a turn around of events this year and is all set to launch its next flagship smartphone, the Passport later this year. The launch is near and BlackBerry has started the pre-registrations for the device where people can sign up for the information regarding it. In an official blog post, it has stated that, “You can pre-register to receive emails about BlackBerry Passport availability and other upcoming BlackBerry products and services.”
It is not a pre-order and you are not committed towards buying the phone. It is just about signing up for information regarding the device. The Passport features a square design philosophy instead of the regular rectangular one. Talking about what it would bring to the table, it will come with stainless steel frame and will be available in black and white colour options. It will feature a 4.5 inch display with a resolution of 1440 x 1440 pixels which will result in a pixel density of 435 ppi.
It will run on BB OS 10.3 which is the latest version of the operating system and has a support for installing Android applications. BlackBerry states that it will come with a battery that will last "more than a full day of battery life to keep up with your busy schedule." The rumours suggest that it will feature a 3,450 mAh battery unit powering the smartphone. It is believed to run on a Snapdragon 800 chipset and we are expecting that the CPU will be a 2.3 GHz quad core unit coupled with an Adreno 330 GPU.
Taking charge of multitasking will be a 3GB RAM and the back will be a 13MP camera with LED flash. The front facing camera will be a 3MP one. One of its highlight will be the BlackBerry assistant which will be up against the likes of Siri and Cortana. BlackBerry intends on making it a device focused at working professionals and justifies the form factor of it with the same as well. Let us how the device performs in future and how does BlackBerry price it.
