Apple is working on an all new top of the line 12.9 inch iPad Pro which is expected to be launched in early 2015
Apple was the company which actually revived the tablet arena and went on to make it one of the most popular segments in the digital arena. It is due to launch the next generation of the iPad Air and iPad Mini 2 later this year but the two will be joined in by a new family member early next year. This will be the iPad Pro which will come with a screen size of 12.9 inch would make it one of the biggest tablets on sale.
As per the latest reports, the tablet will go into production in early 2015 and the same will be followed by a launch in the first quarter of the year itself. The iPad Air and Mini's next generations have already gone into production so it is only a matter of time before we see them getting launched. Currently Apple has 9.7 and 7.9 inch offerings. The 12.9 inch offering is expected to be a professional tablet and will feature a high pixel density which would near Ultra High Definition.
The iOS 8 will feature split screen functionality on the tablets and it will be put to maximum use in this mammoth tablet. It will borrow its design philosophy from the iPad Air. Apple seems to have come at terms with the fact that consumers are looking for bigger screen devices with more functionalities. This is precisely the reason as to why the company plans on launching two iPhones this year with one having a display size of 4.7 inches while the other one would have a screen size of 5.5 inches.
The iPad is the second largest source of revenue for Apple after the iPhone but the tablet sales have been plummeting due to consumers prefering bigger screen smartphones instead. Apple was the one who breathed new life into the segment of tablets and the onus of doing the same again rests on its shoulders.
